Architecture is one of the great themes that runs through the history of photography and the concrete, repetitive nature of this work frees my imagination and provides many opportunities for happy accidents and grace to influence the finished product. I work quite deliberately, consciously employing both traditional and innovative techniques.
As a photographer, I approach all subject matter in the same way. I confront the universe of chaotic lines, shapes, and colors of buildings all around New York City. The real mission is to show each structure as its Platonic ideal, not as it all too often looks in real life: boring and predictable. Instead I employ magic and dynamics, mixing colors of my imagination with the existing structure.
I always wanted to transform my passion for architecture in to photography. From the beginning the process of transforming bricks into walls has struck me as magical. Over the years, that magical process has had its way on me, pushing my love for photography from a hobby to a constant form of self-expression.
